Dangerous Wind Chills, Snow in Forecast
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Dangerous wind chills, single-digit temperatures and snow could hit the Portsmouth area this week, starting Thursday into Friday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Portsmouth will feel dangerously cold wind chills of -10 to -25 degrees below 0 while temperatures reach single digits Thursday night into Friday morning.
The low temperature expected Thursday night is 8 degrees, while Friday could only reach a high temperature of 18 degrees.
Northwest winds could also gust 35 to 45 mph with some guests reaching up to 60 mph.
On Saturday, weather spotters are watching the potential for accumulating snow on Saturday before precipitation transitions to rain Saturday night. Snow is expected to begin at noon Saturday.
