Police invite residents to Social Media Awareness Night

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Portsmouth police will assist the Middletown Police Department with a special community event, entitled “Social Media Awareness Night.” 

The event, which is open to the public, will be held Monday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Gaudet Middle School, 1113 Aquidneck Ave., Middletown. 

The Middletown Police Department, in conjunction with the Middletown School Department and the state Attorney General’s Office, will host the Social Media Awareness Night. Portsmouth Officers Maddie Pirri and Richard Ruest (Portsmouth school resource officers) will attend and assist with the presentation. 

Special Assistant Attorney General Malena Lopez Mora will speak about cyber-bullying, sexting and child pornography, as well as other social media topics. 

All residents and parents of school children within Newport County are welcome to attend this event.
