Clocks spring forward Sunday for Daylight Saving Time
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Clocks spring forward on Sunday, March 12, for Daylight Saving Time.
Don’t forget to change your clocks and check your batteries in both smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms.
Daylight Saving Time officially occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), “Under the Uniform Time Act, as amended, States may exempt themselves from observing Daylight Saving Time by State law.
“If a State chooses to observe Daylight Saving Time, it must begin and end on federally mandated dates.”
Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and “most of Arizona,” according to the DOT.
