Assault, DUI charges top Portsmouth police reports
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Driving under the influence (DUI) and assault charges topped Portsmouth police reports this past week in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
Quincy, Mass., man charged with DUI
Ali Majeed, 37, of 55 Centre St., Apt. 3, Quincy, Mass., was arrested on July 26 at 2:39 a.m. and charged with DUI, first offense, 0.15 or greater.
On July 26, at 2:18 a.m., police on a traffic post in the area of East Main Road and Turnpike Avenue observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was recorded on radar traveling at 54 mph in a 25-mph zone. Police detected a strong odor of alcohol.
After failing a field sobriety test, the driver, Majeed, was transported to the police station. A chemical test measured a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.156 and a second reading of 0.159. The legal BAC limit in Rhode Island is 0.08.
Michigan woman charged with DUI
Helena N. Stolyarova, 46, of 3790 Curlew Lane, Ann Arbor, Mich., was arrested on July 25 at 7:37 p.m. and charged with DUI, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
On July 25, at 7:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of West Main Road and the Mobil Xtra Mart for a report of a vehicle operating erratically. The vehicle in question just pulled over into the Mobile Xtra Mart parking lot.
Upon arrival, police observed the vehicle leave the parking lot and travel northbound on West Main Road at a speed of 50 mph in a 45-mph zone. The vehicle also crossed over the dotted white lane divider about 6 times, according to police reports. The vehicle was stopped on Hedly Street.
Police detected an odor of alcohol and observed 2 Blue Moon beer cans in the center console of the vehicle. After failing a field sobriety test, the driver, Stolyarova, was transported to the police station where she refused a chemical test.
Portsmouth woman charged with assault
Constance Meg Cone, 50, of President Avenue, Portsmouth, was arrested on July 23 at 7:33 p.m. and charged with domestic, simple assault. Cone allegedly pushed a Portsmouth man. The victim and suspect knew each other.
Narragansett man charged with vandalism
Patrick Hughes Doyle, 24, of 13 Salem Trail, Narragansett, was arrested on July 23 at 1:15 a.m. and charged with domestic, vandalism or malicious injury to property.
On July 23, at 12:56 a.m., police were called to a Park Avenue residence for a report of a disturbance. Doyle allegedly broke several doors at a Portsmouth woman’s residence and refused to leave, according to police reports. The victim and suspect knew each other.
Portsmouth woman charged with disorderly conduct
Samantha Sandoval, 43, of 154 Ormerod Ave., Portsmouth, was arrested on July 22 at 11:16 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.
On July 22, at 10:49 p.m., police were called to the Island Park Playground for a report of fireworks being discharged illegally.
Upon arrival, police observed a group arguing at the playground. They also observed a woman, identified as Sandoval, yelling curse words at several men, according to police reports.
The group of men told police that Sandoval and a Portsmouth man were discharging fireworks. They went to the residence to ask them to stop. While speaking with the men, police observed Sandoval continue to yell profanities at them, according to police reports. She continued yelling at the group after being asked by police to stop, according to reports.
Portsmouth woman charged with disorderly conduct and vandalism
Kelly Don Richardson, 35, of Middle Road, Portsmouth, was arrested on July 22 at 9:23 p.m. and charged with domestic, disorderly conduct, and domestic, vandalism and malicious injury to property.
On July 22, at 9 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on Middle Road for a report of a domestic disturbance.
A Portsmouth woman told police she got into an argument with Richardson, who allegedly “raised her voice,” went outside, and smashed a large amount of plates and cups against the side of the residence. Richardson then allegedly flipped over a pot containing a tomato plant. The Portsmouth woman and Richardson know each other.
