Art meets history next weekend in Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Arts Guild will collaborate with the Portsmouth Historical Society for a special event this coming weekend.
On Sunday, Aug. 6th, from 2 to 5 p.m., artists from the Portsmouth Arts Guild will set up their easels on the grounds of the Portsmouth Historical Society to paint local scenes.
Many artists will also have their own art on display for sale. This will be a unique opportunity to see how local artists work and to talk with them about the process of creating art on a blank canvas.
The historical society museum and buildings will also be open for visitors who want to learn more about Portsmouth’s history.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information about the Portsmouth Historical Society’s events, visit their website at www.portsmouthhistorical.org.
The Portsmouth Arts Guild is a community-based organization, dedicated to promoting the visual and performing arts in Portsmouth and the surrounding area, and contributing to the cultural enrichment of our community through exhibitions, performances and education.
