Town releases RFP for curbside trash pickup

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The town of Portsmouth recently advertised two Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including one for curbside trash pickup.

The Portsmouth Town Council is exploring new options for trash and recycling collecting in town.

One option would be to continue Transfer Station operations as is, while other options include a Pay-As-You-Throw program and curbside trash pickup.

Town officials recently advertised the following two RFPs (posted in entirety below).

Request for Proposals – Solid Waste and Recyclables Operations – Transfer Station

Request for Proposals – Residential and Municipal Refuse and Recyclables Collection Services (curbside pickup)

Bidders for both RFPs must attend a pre-bid conference to be held Friday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. at Town Hall, 2200 East Main Road.

Any bidder not present will be disqualified from further participation in this contracting process.
