MIDDLETOWN, R.I. \u2014\u00a0Christine Isabella McDonald was a lifelong resident of Middletown, RI. She formerly resided at 469 Aquidneck Avenue, West House and then Forest Farm Assisted Living.\u00a0\r\n\r\nChristine was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Bonner McDonald, and sister of the late Margaret McDonald Oliver. She also leaves a nephew, Robert Oliver. She was predeceased by her good friend, Arlene Rosbottom of Saunderstown, RI, and she leaves behind her best friend Lois Marvelle of Newport, RI.\r\n\r\nShe worked for 47 years on the Newport Naval Base starting in 1942 as a seamstress and presser and eventually moving into foodservice. She retired from the Naval Base in 1989.\u00a0\r\n\r\nChristine was an avid gardener and her passions were crocheting and making puzzles. During her working years, she was a member of a bowling league on the Naval Base. She was a member of the Portsmouth Grange and the Pomona Grange. Christine enjoyed playing Bingo while living at West House as well as with the Portsmouth Seniors.\u00a0\r\n\r\nCalling hours will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 9:00-10:00 am, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. A time of remembrance will follow at 10:00 am.\r\n\r\nBurial will be private.\u00a0\r\n\r\nIn leiu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Potter League for Animals, P.O.
