Portsmouth appoints first female deputy chief of police
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Police Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Lt. Maryanne D. Perry to deputy chief of police.
Maryanne is a 19-and-a-half-year veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department. She grew up in Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School.
Maryanne has served as the department’s accreditation manager, shift commander, and as the administrative lieutenant.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications from Rhode Island College.
Maryanne is the first woman to hold the position of deputy chief in the Portsmouth Police Department.
Portsmouth Police Chief Tom Lee stated he was very proud of Maryanne and her promotion is a recognition of her many years of dedicated service to this department and to the community.
