Police seek information after breaking & entering

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Police are seeking information from the public after a man allegedly broke into a residence on Petonanowet Lane Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., Portsmouth police responded to a Petonanowet Lane residence for a report of a breaking and entering in progress.

The man allegedly gained entry into the home and was seen inside the residence before fleeing the area.

According to police, the suspect is described as a white male, mid-fifties, 5’05 to 5’07 inches tall, medium build with a tan or olive complexion.

Prior to the resident reporting the crime, the man was seen walking in neighborhoods off of McCorrie Lane. All residents are encouraged to secure their property.

Anyone who resides in the neighborhood who may have been a witness to anything suspicious are asked to contact the Portsmouth Police at 401-683-0300 or the Detectives Division at 401-643-0194.
