PHOTOS: Portsmouth swears in new fire chief

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Portsmouth Town Clerk Jennifer M. West officiated the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday of Portsmouth’s new fire chief, Paul Ford of Swansea, Mass.

Ford holds 35 years of firefighting experience, including 10 years as fire chief. He also served as a firefighting instructor at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.

More specifically, Ford served as fire chief in Fall River, Mass., from 2008 to 2011, and fire chief in Brookline, Mass., from 2011 to 2016.

Also attending the swearing-in ceremony held Tuesday morning at the Portsmouth Fire Department were Town Administrator Richard A. Rainer, Portsmouth Police Chief Thomas F. Lee and Deputy Chief Maryanne Perry, Registrar of Voters Jacqueline Schulz, Ford’s former fire chief from Fall River, and members of the Portsmouth Fire Department.
