MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — The Board of Directors and Friends of Lucy’s Hearth will host the 7th Annual Fall for Lucy’s Hearth festive fall fundraiser in the Museum Galleries and USTA Wing of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Lucy’s Hearth provides shelter and critical human services for families with children experiencing homelessness in our community.

The event will feature passed hors d’oeuvres and food stations by Russell Morin Catering & Events, complimentary wine and beer, along with live music from Pat Cottrell. There will be a Silent Auction, a live auction with auctioneer Emlen Drayton and remarks from Todd Martin, CEO of International Tennis Hall of Fame. The co-chairs are Marie Force and Julie Toland.

Co-Chair Marie Force, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, said “I am proud to support an organization that displays such a strong commitment to our neighbors at their most vulnerable moments. My family, staff and fan base have all enjoyed supporting Lucy’s Hearth as they moved into their new facility and serve even more families in need.”

Julie Toland, co-chair, recalls her early experiences at Lucy’s Hearth when she volunteered with the women and children in residence. She reports “the transformation of Lucy’s Hearth over the last 34 years has been remarkable. It has truly been a labor of love for all of us who have served on the board of directors and Friends of Lucy’s Hearth. We are so proud of our beloved Lucy’s Hearth!”

Elizabeth Jackson, Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President of KVH Industries, Inc. will accept the Corporate Community Partner Award honoring KVH Industries, Inc. The honor is being presented to KVH Industries to honor their longtime support and partnership with our families and community.

The Susan M. Wilson Volunteer of the Year award will be presented to Shirley Ackerman.

Lucy’s Hearth was established in 1984 as a grassroots organization serving as a night-to-night shelter for homeless women and children in the community. Over the years, the shelter expanded its service continuum with a focus on self-sufficiency to help families increase their ability to live independently, thus breaking the cycle of homelessness. In 2016, Lucy’s Hearth moved into a newly purchased and renovated facility located at 19 Valley Road in Middletown.

In the last year, Lucy’s Hearth served 130 parents and children in its Emergency and Transitional Shelters. In FY 2018, they served more than 40,000 meals and provided nearly 20,000 bed nights. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the programs and services of Lucy’s Hearth.
