Garden Club to hold dedication at Portsmouth Historical Society

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Garden Club will hold a dedication ceremony this Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Portsmouth Historical Society to dedicate their recent plantings on the property.

According to Garden Club President Roberta Stevens, “We will dedicate a maple tree (green in spring and summer, yellow in fall) in memory of  former Club President and Historical  Society member,  Madeline Beaucage,  a magnolia in memory of Olivia Marcoux (Livvie), multi-decade Treasurer and honorary member, and 2 hydrangea plants in memory of Kathy Kacon, member and yard sale coordinator extraordinaire.”

The planting was done recently on the initiative of the Garden Club to help enhance the grounds of the historical society and to replace some older trees that had to be taken down. Members of both organizations will be present at the dedication ceremony.

The new plants were paid for by a grant from the Aquidneck Land Trust and funds from the Portsmouth Garden Club.
