PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Two drivers were transported to the hospital Friday after a motor vehicle crash on West Main Road at the intersection of Corys Lane.
On Friday, Jan. 11, at 12:20 p.m., Portsmouth police responded to West Main Road at Corys Lane for a report of a rollover motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, officers observed two vehicles involved in the accident.
A 2015 Toyota Scion operated by a 35-year-old male and a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by a 63-year-old male were traveling northbound on West Main Road at the intersection of Corys Lane.
The Scion, which was traveling in the left lane, swerved into the right lane in an attempt to turn left onto Corys Lane.
The operator of the Santa Fe swerved into the embankment to avoid colliding with the Scion and rolled over as a result.
The accident also caused a utility pole to snap and live wires were hanging in the street.
The Portsmouth Fire Department transported both operators to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
National Grid was also on scene to attend to the pole and wires. The roadway took approximately an hour to fully clear.
