PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Rep. Terri Cortvriend has been appointed to the House Small Business Committee by House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello.
The Small Business Committee reviews legislation relating to the streamlining of licenses and permits, eliminating or decreasing bureaucratic steps and delays and uncoordinated or duplicative reviews and filings, and reducing associated added costs to businesses.
Small business is a familiar subject for Representative Cortvriend, who is the owner of Ocean Link, Inc., a marine plumbing firm that she founded 30 years ago. She also previously served as a board member for the Newport County Chamber of Commerce.
Representative Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown) served on the Portsmouth School Committee from 2004 to 2008 and from 2012 to 2018, the last four years as chairwoman. She lives in Portsmouth with her partner, Charles A. Perry.
