Stitchery to host free craft swap

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — In honor of its 2nd anniversary, Stitchery will host a free craft supply swap in February.

The craft supply swap will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stitchery, 14 Potomac Road, Portsmouth.

“We welcome any and all usable craft supplies to be donated to the event by Saturday, Feb. 16,” according to Stitchery.

Karen and Traci will open the doors on Feb. 23, when all members of the community can come by and pick out what they need.

Cash donations will be accepted that day to help support free youth arts programs at the Portsmouth Free Public Library.

“Clean out those closets, bins and craft rooms of supplies you know you’re just never going to use,” said Traci. “We will not accept anything broken, and please–no sewing machines.”

All forms of craft will be represented with supplies such as knitting needles, fabric, yarn, ribbon, scissors, paint, scrapbook paper, unopened needlepoint kits, patterns, thread, project bags, beads, markers and wool fiber.

Check the website for studio drop off times.

Karen added, “Not only is this an opportunity to de-stash your craft area at home, but it’s an eco-friendly opportunity to get your unused supplies into the hands of someone who can use them now.”

Stitchery is a needle arts studio offering sewing classes for children through adults taught by Karen Katin of Dancing Threads RI, and knitting classes, taught by Traci Vaspol of Britstitchery.

Traci and Karen are thrilled to celebrate being open for two years by hosting this community event!
