PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Tuesday due to snow and slippery road conditions possible. How much snow? Find out here.
The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Snow is expected to develop Tuesday starting around noon.
The following Winter Weather Advisory was posted on the NWS website:
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM EST TUESDAY…
* WHAT…Mixed precipitation, initially snow transitioning over to
sleet and then mixing with freezing rain before changing to all
rain. Snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and ice accumulations
of a light glaze expected.
* WHERE…Southeastern Massachusetts and all of Rhode Island.
* WHEN…From 10 AM to 10 PM EST Tuesday, especially during the
Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Expect significant, potentially high end
travel impacts late Tuesday. Prepare accordingly and plan on
slippery road conditions and reductions to visibility.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
