Signage, new retail complex top Zoning Board agenda

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — A couple of Portsmouth businesses are looking to add signage, while one developer seeks to build a new retail complex on East Main Road.

The Zoning Board will hear these requests and others at its meeting on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

Sydney Portsmouth and JKD, LLC seeks a special use permit to construct a free-standing sign larger than the maximum area allowed on West Main Road.

Global Partners LP and Alwar Equities, Inc. also seek a special use permits to install signage in excess of the maximum allowed under the ordinance for their proposed automobile fueling station, convenience store and café located at 1568 West Main Road.

A new retail complex is being proposed for East Main Road. Wind Rush Properties, LLC seeks a special use permit to develop a new retail and customer service complex containing two retail units and eight tradesman units. The building floor area would total 9,600 square feet at 2451 East Main Road (just behind Food Works Restaurant).
