Community Theater Play at Portsmouth Historical Society Postponed

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Community Theater production of “Ghostly Witness,” previously scheduled at the Portsmouth Historical Society for June 6, has been postponed until later this year.

The play describes the death of Rebecca Cornell in 1673 and the trial of her son, Thomas Cornell, for her murder at her home located near the site of the current Valley Inn on East Main Road.

Using original trial transcripts, Portsmouth Community Theater Board President and Motif award- winning director Cindy Killavey and members Richard and Gloria Schmidt crafted a play of the trial and its outcome.

Additional details will be provided when this historical play is rescheduled.
