PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth High School graduation takes place this Friday. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
The following information is provided by Portsmouth High School.
GRADUATION CEREMONY: Graduation will be held on Friday, June 7th at 6:00 PM on the Robert Crudup Baseball Field at Portsmouth High School. Seniors should report to the cafeteria no later than 5:00 PM. Attire for graduation is dress pants, shirt and tie for men and dresses, skirts or dress pants for women. There may be no adornments on graduation caps or robes except school-issued Honor Society cords. The school reserves the right to limit participation in the ceremony if students refuse to comply with appearance standards.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: If the forecast calls for inclement weather, graduation will be held in the PHS gymnasium. If the location is changed to indoors, a listserv message will go by 12:00 pm. Each graduating senior will receive seven (7) inclement weather tickets when the cap & gown is paid for. DO NOT LOSE THESE TICKETS!! Only people with tickets will be admitted into the PHS Gymnasium. If a family has invited more than 7 guests to the ceremony, it is up to you to seek out unused tickets from friends or call the main office to see if excess tickets have been turned into the “unused ticket pool”. See ticket envelope for details on returning unused tickets.
HANDICAP PARKING: Additional parking will be marked as handicap parking for the ceremony. The entire visitor lot (across from the main office) as well as parking along the baseball field outfield fence will be designated handicapped parking.
HANDICAP SEATING: Handicap seating on the baseball field is by the 3rd base dugout as there is a paved path to this location from the main lot. The bottom row of the bleachers in the gymnasium have multiple slots for wheelchairs. Chairs may be removed as needed from the public seating area to accommodate wheelchairs.
GRADUATION PHOTO: O’Connor Studios, the official photographer of Portsmouth High School, will be on hand to take an official portrait of each senior receiving his/her diploma. Therefore, we ask that parents please keep the area in front of the stage clear during the ceremony. Each senior will receive a free 5 X 7 print. Photos will be mailed home over the summer. Information on how to order additional prints, at a nominal charge, will be included in the mailing.
