Clean Ocean Access continued its 8-week long partnership with the MLK center, leading education activities for the summer camps running throughout July and August. This week, Kim took over the activities from Peyton, who had run the events for the prior 4 weeks. The students were rising 4th and 5th graders and Kim led them through the Plastic Pollution activity. The “Plastic Feast” activity also went really well and the kids had fun sorting the beads. They ended the activity by making posters with pledges for how they were going to reduce plastic use in the second half of the year. Overall, the students left with a better understanding of how plastic pollution can affect wildlife and how they can make small changes to prevent increased plastic in the world’s oceans!
