Portsmouth Firefighters responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on East Main …

Portsmouth Firefighters responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on East Main Road at Oakland Farm Road around 16:15 on Saturday. Shortly after arriving on scene command declared an MCI and called for an additional three rescues to the scene for a total of four rescues to the scene. All four patients were transported to Newport ER for treatment.

A Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) is still declared for a smaller incident when a single response requires more resources than that community can immediately provide and mutual aid will need to assist. It also gives the area hospitals a heads up that they are getting a bunch of patients at once. Middletown Fire Department and Tiverton Fire Department each responded with one ALS rescue, Portsmouth Engine 3 broke from the MVC and a mutual aid ALS Bristol Rescue/PSI also responded for another EMS call that occurred around the same time.

Thank you to our mutual aid departments for the assist.
