Portsmouth Proposes Transfer Station Sticker Fee Increase

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Town Council will discuss increasing the Transfer Station sticker fee at the next meeting on Monday, Nov. 25.

Town Administrator Rich Rainer is proposing a Transfer Station sticker fee of $191 for the next year, along with a reduction of one employee’s hours.

The current 2019 sticker fee is $180, with the second sticker per household remaining at $10. The proposed 2020 Transfer Station sticker fee is an increase of 6.1% or $11 per household.

The town administrator’s proposed fee, however, is subject to reducing one employee’s hours. Without reducing one employee’s hours, the proposed price would be $207, a 15% increase.

According to the proposal, the higher sticker fee is required to offset an increase in operating costs.

You can read the entire proposal below, which includes the prosed Transfer Station sticker fee and budget.
