In addition to the splendor on view inside The Breakers, there is plenty to see outside as well. This elaborate neo-classical vase produced by the Glens Falls Terra Cotta Company (c. 1895) is one of a pair tucked into alcoves right by the front door. In high relief, the bodies are decorated with regal leonine (lion) masks, bountiful garlands of fruit, swirling foliage, beveled rims, and mischievous satyr faces as the handles. Their presence adds even more drama to an already grand entrance.
