Newport Winter Festival Returns To Warm Up the Weekend

NEWPORT, R.I. — The 32nd annual Newport Winter Festival, touted as “New England’s Largest Winter Extravaganza,” returns to Newport County this weekend.

The annual Winter Festival will take place Feb. 14-23, 2020 throughout Newport and Newport County.

Featuring more than 150 events, the festival offers a unique winter experience combining food, festivities, music, and fun for all ages. Melt away your winter blues with all the Newport Winter Festival has to offer.

Highlighted events include the Chili Cook-Off, 3rd Annual Mac & Cheese Smackdown, Princess Party and exciting, fun concerts by the Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Changes in Latitudes, and more! View this weekend’s featured events below.

Friday Feb. 14 

Polar Pineapples

3:00pm-11:00pm: Gurney’s Newport Resort, One Goat Island

Polar Pineapples is back for its 7th year in a row, with a newly upgraded venue! Purchase a cocktail from the ice bar and stay warm around one of Gurney’s eleven firepits, all while having the best views of the bay. Free Hot Cider with Bracelet. Hours 3- 11pm, 401.849.2600.

The Eagles Experience

8:30pm: Newport Marriott, 25 America’s Cup

The Eagles Experience aims to be the most authentic tribute show to the Eagles available today! With a one-to-one lineup that reflects the Eagles during their heyday in the late 70s, the members of the band are each dedicated to presenting their part as accurately as possible, and will provide you with an ultimate “Eagles Experience.” Watch them nail classic songs like “Best of My Love” and “Take It Easy.” You’ll also hear smash hits like “Hotel California,” “The Long Run,” “Heartache Tonight” and many more during this live concert. Tickets $20/ $15 win advance or with bracelet, VIP $45/ $40 in Advance with or with bracelet.

Saturday Feb. 15 

The 25th Annual Chili Cook-Off presented by Sam Adams

❅ 11am-3:30pm: Gurney’s Newport Resort, One Goat Island, (Formerly Hyatt Newport).

Winter heats up as area restaurants and caterers compete to see who has the best chili in town!  Bring your appetite, sharpen your taste buds, and join in the fun as you choose your favorite chili!  Enjoy Sam Adams specials. Free Trolley Saturday Feb 15th For the Chili Cook-Off! It will begin running from 11:15am and end at 3:45pm. Stops at The Newport Gateway Center, The Newport Harbor Hotel, and in front of The Red Parrot taking you to the Gurney’s Resort!

Mysterious Deceptions with Illusionist David Garrity

6:30pm Newport Marriott

Mysterious Deceptions will be full of hilarious stunts of apparent mind-reading, an incredible illusion where a table mysteriously floats around the stage and out into the audience, “dangerous” stunts and a Houdini-style “Escape Challenge” Illusionist David Garrity uses visual magic and illusions combined with music, pantomime, situation comedy and audience participation to entertain for corporate events worldwide. Fun for the whole family! Tickets are $8 in advance or with a bracelet and $10 at the door.

Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band – Changes in Latitudes

8:30pm: Gurney’s Newport Resort, One Goat Island, (Formerly Hyatt Newport).

Newport Winter Festival presents Changes in Latitudes, the country’s premier tribute show to the Mayor of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett.  This nationally acclaimed band travels the country with beach balls and leis flying, dancing conga lines, and “Trop Rock” fun for all.  You can expect to hear such classics as “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, “Volcano”, and of course “Changes In Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”, as well as other crowd pleasing favorites, like “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Southern Cross”, and “Another Saturday Night”, and the Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett smash hit “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere”.  Changes in Latitudes has thrilled audiences with their amazingly authentic reproduction of the Jimmy Buffett concert experience!

Sunday Feb. 16

Toe Jam Puppet Band

12:00pm Gurney’s Resort, 1 Goat Island

Toe Jam Puppet Band offers a special brand of hands-on children’s entertainment that grown-ups can actually enjoy. The performances are very active, encouraging kids and parents to sing and dance along with the band as they entertain with a unique combination of original songs, masterful shadow puppetry, storytelling and just plain old good fun. $6/ $3 with Bracelet

Rainforest Reptile Show

2pm Gurney’s Resort

In this show, the animals are the stars! Kids will learn all about these fascinating animals, their natural behaviors and their habitats. Animals include alligators, snakes, turtles, and lizards! $6/ $3 with Bracelet
