PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Volunteers are needed to help repair and rebuild crumbling stone walls on Aquidneck Island.
If you would like to help retain some of the Island’s most unique features, please join us on Monday, March 30, at 5:30 p.m. for an information session at Portsmouth Town Hall, 2200 East Main Road, to learn about the details and requirements.
And if you decide to volunteer, you will be taught by a certified stone wall builder at a two-day Stone Trust training workshop on May 14 and 15.
The Preservation Society and Preserve Rhode Island are serious partners in the Aquidneck Stone Wall Initiative. We’ve already restored walls at Simmons Farm and the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Our next project will be at Glen Farm starting in June. Many thanks to the van Beuren Charitable Foundation which has helped fund these efforts.
To volunteer for the project or for more information, please email Donna Dunn at email@example.com.
