We are back again for another edition of the Preservation Society Portrait Challenge! Today we are featuring the Portrait of Dr. William Hunter’s Spaniels by Gilbert Stuart, 1770.

Want to learn more about this painting and painter? This portrait hangs in the Hunter House. Gilbert Stuart was a patient of Dr. Hunter, who commissioned this from the young painter, who was just 14 years old! He painted more than 1,000 portraits of the new country’s leaders, including 5 presidents.
